Beowulf – ITV

Based on an epic poem written more than 1,000 years ago, this fantasy-drama is set in a fictional land, where humans and creatures live a life of danger, excitement and adventure. VFX helped to create various types of Black Goo for the television drama adaptation.

Various types of Black Goo were required for different scenes within the ITV drama Beowulf. In order to do this and keep costs down we used the same base formulations so that the viscosity and elasticity could be easily adjusted. For example, some of the black goo needed to appear mat for some scenes and high gloss for others. It was vital the product was non-staining and safe for human contact.
